Product Spotlight: NeverWet 1K Clear

This month, we want to spotlight an amazing new product hitting market in the near future: Neverwet 1K Clear. This remarkable coating delivers seamless, high-gloss coverage that repels a variety of substances under various conditions for extended periods of time.

NeverWet 1K Clear is an industrial hydrophobic coating and it is solvent, scratch, graffiti and UV resistant. NeverWet 1K Clear is ideal for:

  •     Metal
  •     Wood
  •     Plastic
  •     Glass
  •     Ceramic
  •     Painted Surfaces

The hydrophobic and graffiti-resistant nature of this product makes it an ideal coating for public structures such as bridges, playground equipment, billboards, road signs, and more. NeverWet 1K Clear can be applied by spray or brush, is dry to the touch in 2-3 hours, and is fully cured within 24 hours of application.

A unique feature of NeverWet 1K Clear is the solvent and chemical resistance; thick oils and strong solvents are unable to penetrate the coating and are easily removed with a dry or damp cloth.

This product is also ideal for maintenance applications like keeping equipment and tooling cleaner, while repelling paints and staining agents. Stains can be easily wiped away without the severe scrubbing or harsh chemicals that can mar or damage surfaces.

Not only is NeverWet 1K Clear a clean, shiny coating, but it is extremely durable as well. It has high scratch resistance, hardness, and provides an extra-hard layer of protection for the surface, like a shell.

Tesla is recommending NeverWet

Excerpt…

A Tesla Model 3 owner says that his car’s emergency braking feature powered by Autopilot saw a stopped vehicle in the middle of the road during a snowstorm before he could himself see it and helped avoid an accident. The whole incident was caught on dashcam.

Though some owners have reported issues with ice buildup on the front to the car messing with the Autopilot’s radar sensor.

Tesla recommends using a Rust-Oleum NeverWet spray coat on the front fascia to help prevent ice buildup. The company also asks owners to only using the top coat and not the base one.

NeverWet DWR and the Environment: How Our Products Promote Sustainability

NeverWet Fabric DWR

Water-repelling treatments have been available for quite a while now. However, with growing concerns relating to perfluorinated compounds (PFCs), new research and development had to occur in order to find an environmentally-friendly alternative.

After years of development, NeverWet, with the help of their manufacturing partners, Rust-Oleum, developed and commercialized a PFC-free Durable Water Repellent (DWR) formula that repels water, mud, food stains, and other liquids, all while maintaining the texture and breathability of the fabric.

NeverWet DWR is known for three key features:

  •        Superhydrophobicity
  •        Durability
  •      Exceptional liquid and stain repellency

Superhydrophobicity is a description used for water-repellent surfaces made of hydrophobic material. While most fabrics do not carry this trait naturally, our NeverWet DWR products create a barrier between the fabric and the liquid attempting to permeate it. Not only is this barrier strong, it is lightweight and breathable; fabrics treated with our NeverWet DWR treatments look and feel the same after treatment as they do before.

The durability of NeverWet’s DWR products is unprecedented in water-repellent treatments; our solvents can withstand up to 70 home washes before hydrophobicity loss. Our DWR fabric treatments also undergo rigorous shower tests to see what the treated surfaces can endure. The volume of water hitting the surface as well as the force with which the water hits the surface is tested.

Our NeverWet DWR treatments proudly boasts its PFC-free formulation, which offers the same level of performance, including exceptional liquid and stain repellency, as original perfluorinated compounds while being environmentally friendly. This combination of features is remarkable, and NeverWet was the first company to meet market demand while overachieving in performance.

NeverWet has been dedicated to developing a sustainable, environmentally-friendly product that is compatible with a wide variety of fabrics and surfaces. Now, their patented formula is the most versatile, environmentally-conscious product on the market today! The water-based treatment is applied as a finish at the textile mill, where it is heat-cured during drying. The formula bonds to the fibers of polyester, nylon, cotton blends and more, while still maintaining its original breathability and aesthetics. NeverWet also offers a solvent-based, post-production version where heat-cure finishing is not an option.

It is the hope of NeverWet to soon develop this product for consumer use, and will eventually be found on the shelves of your local stores. Want to know more? The Best Umbrella You Can Buy

Why you’ll love it: The Totes Compact NeverWet Umbrella is lightweight and compact, but what really counts here is the low price.

Chances are good that your Totes Compact NeverWet Umbrella isn’t going to last you a lifetime if you live in Seattle or London, but considering the fact that it costs only sixteen bucks, this is actually a well-made little umbrella.

It collapses down to measure just 11 inches long when not in use, so you can easily stash it in your car, in a drawer or cabinet, or in your bag. Deployed, the canopy measures three feet across, so it will keep your head and shoulders dry in all but the most pernicious, windy downpours.

When caught by a serious gust of wind, this umbrella’s aluminum frame will probably flip inside out. If that happens enough times, the hardware will eventually fail. But given its low price, you can just replace it when that finally happens. One more thing to note is that the canopy is plenty wide for one person, but it’s rather shallow, so it only provides excellent shelter for rain falling more or less straight down.

Those few negatives aside, most customers who have used a Totes Compact NeverWet Umbrella love it. It has almost a hundred reviews on Target and enjoys almost unanimous five-star reviews. One buyer called it “easy to open and close” while another said it was “very compact” and marveled how “water literally just drains off” the canopy.”

A writer from UmbrellaStar said this umbrella “will easily keep an individual dry” and praised the efficacy of its “NeverWet invisible coating.”

Pros: Very low cost, compact and lightweight, hydrophobic canopy

Cons: Not as durable as other options

Technology On the Hunt with ScentLok

Marking one of the most significant advancements in hunting apparel since ScentLok Technologies pioneered scent-controlling activated carbon technology in 1992, ScentLok has recently teamed with Rust-Oleum® to offer hunters a new, high-performance option for staying dry, comfortable and stealthy in the field without the use of stiff and noisy membranes.

For nearly a century, Rust-Oleum has been a worldwide leader in manufacturing protective paints and innovative coatings across categories including small project paints, cleaners, primers, automotive, industrial, wood care, and now fabrics, with their remarkable NeverWet® technology.

Rust-Oleum NeverWet is a superhydrophobic treatment designed to create a moisture repelling barrier on a variety of substrates, and help keep fabric dry, clean, and breathable. The treatment makes water, blood and light oils literally roll right off the surface, while possessing self-cleaning properties that help dirt and debris rinse away easily.

“Hunters are exposed to a wide variety of environmental conditions, so their apparel is an ideal application for our product,” says NeverWet OEM Account Manager, Troy Wood. “With the introduction of NeverWet treated apparel, ScentLok has proven itself once again as a pioneer in the industry.”

“We owe it to our customers to provide products that deliver the highest level of performance in the field,” says ScentLok Technologies CEO, Patrick Hylant. “This fabric treatment sheds massive amounts of rain and allows hunters to stay on stand when the skies open up without the use of stiff and noisy laminates. Being a hunter myself, I firmly believe that once hunters experience NeverWet firsthand, they’ll never go back to membranes or less effective DWR finishes.”

Silence is Golden

ScentLok apparel with NeverWet should be considered headline news for bow hunters, who no longer need to choose between staying dry or staying silent.

“Full Season Taktix has been created to give bow hunters every possible advantage,” says ScentLok Technologies VP Marketing, Nick Andrews, “and this incredible NeverWet treatment is a key part of that overall formula. Now, bow hunters can make the position adjustments they need to – on stand or during the stalk – and draw their bows without fear of their clothing making any noise… all while remaining dry and comfortable. That’s a really big deal.”
